Produced by Shinobu Distillery in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, Shinobu Cognac Single Cask is a limited-edition Japanese single malt from the Sengoku Samurai Series, dedicated to Chōsokabe Motochika. Distilled by Tatsuya Usami, this whisky was matured exclusively in a Cognac cask and bottled at cask strength at 58% ABV. Drawn from a single cask and limited to only 304 bottles, it delivers a concentrated combination of dark and dried fruit, vanilla, caramel, elegant oak and warming spice.
Food Pairing: Roasted duck, grilled beef, aged cheese, fruit cake, dark chocolate, or dried-fruit desserts with caramel and toasted nuts.
Tasting Notes: Rich and full-bodied, combining dark and dried fruit with vanilla, caramel, elegant oak and warming spice in a concentrated cask-strength profile.
Nose: Rich and aromatic, with raisins, figs and other dark fruits accompanied by delicate vanilla and elegant oak.
Palate: Full-bodied and rounded, developing dried fruit and caramel alongside toasted oak, vanilla and warming spice.
Finish: Long and lingering, with persistent woody sweetness, dried fruit, vanilla and seasoned oak providing depth and complexity.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass; at 58% ABV, a few drops of water can help reveal additional fruit, vanilla and Cognac-cask character.
