Tasting notes: Champagne peach, white florals and red fruit
Habtamu Fikadu’s Chelbesa comes from around 140 smallholder farmers near the Chelbesa washing station in Ethiopia. Habtamu Fikadu Aga, general manager of Kuri Mountain Coffee, oversees coffee production alongside Aaga Dinsa. This offering marks September Coffee’s third year working with Habtamu and his Chelbesa coffees, continuing a relationship built around their distinctive washed profiles.
At the company’s washing stations, pulped coffee ferments under water for 48–72 hours, depending on temperature. After washing, the parchment soaks for another 12 hours and dries on raised beds for 10–12 days. In this lot, September finds champagne-peach sweetness, white florals and juicy apple-and-pomegranate character, with a lime-like brightness. The light body and sparkling finish make it an expressive filter coffee.
