This expressive and 'layered' red wine originates from the United States, specifically from premier coastal regions within the state of California. Sea Sun is a label under the Wagner Family of Wines, produced by winemaker Charlie Wagner, whose family founded the iconic Caymus Vineyards and has roots in Napa Valley winemaking dating back to the 1850s. The winery's philosophy is rooted in an ongoing exploration of California's diverse coastal lands, where the 'sea' breezes from the Pacific Ocean balance the bright 'sun' to create an extended growing season.
Wine Description
Sea Sun Pinot Noir presents a deep and intense ruby colour. The sensory profile is 'strikingly soft' and aromatic, featuring a nose of baked cherries, dark plum, and red licorice, layered with sophisticated notes of vanilla, brown sugar, and toasty oak spice. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied and 'lush', showcasing rich flavours of ripe strawberry, blueberry, and milk chocolate underpinned by subtle hints of violet and truffle. It is characterized by its silky mouthfeel, fine-grained tannins, and a balanced acidity that prevents the jammy fruit character from being overwhelming. This 100% Pinot Noir typically reaches an ABV of approximately 14.4%. While the Wagner family utilizes the unique natural forces of coastal vineyard sites, this wine is not certified organic.
