Imagine sharing our unforgettable journey to select a Russell’s Reserve Private Barrel at the iconic Wild Turkey distillery. We cross the scenic Kentucky River before entering the historic Tyrone A rickhouse, where the magic happens. Eight Prime Barrel members had the exclusive opportunity to taste and choose from six memorable barrels.
We tasted the barrels blind to savor the classic Russell’s Reserve notes of sweet oak, caramel, and baking spice without any preconceived notions. After a lively discussion, we narrowed it down to two barrels, ultimately selecting Barrel #3 for its exceptional qualities.
This 8 1/2-year-old private barrel showcases the legendary Russell family tradition. It was distilled on 2/21/17 and aged on the 4th floor of Tyrone M rickhouse. Tyrone M’s more open floor plan enhances airflow, accelerating maturation with more dramatic temperature and humidity swings while extracting rich, complex flavors.
Indulge in the warm and inviting Russell’s Reserve Private Barrel and enjoy the pinnacle of Kentucky tradition.
