Dovetailed Marshmallows is a 9 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Royal Brackla Distillery, independently bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society as Cask No. 55.94. Distilled on 2 July 2014, it matured in a second-fill ex-Bourbon hogshead before being bottled at natural cask strength of 57.8% ABV. Only 282 bottles were produced. Classified by SMWS in its Juicy, Oak & Vanilla flavour profile, the whisky combines creamy custard, toffee, vanilla and baked goods with grape, citrus, raspberry and polished wood character.
Food Pairing: Vanilla cheesecake, buttered scones, crème brûlée, pancakes with berries, shortbread or mild creamy cheeses.
Tasting Notes: Creamy and dessert-driven with custard, toffee and vanilla complemented by fresh fruit, citrus, floral notes and polished oak.
Nose: Creamy custard, toffee and freshly baked scones with delicate floral character; with water, melted butter, raspberry and polished wood emerge.
Palate: Creamy and sweet with vanilla-topped tiramisu, grape and bright lemonade-like citrus.
Finish: Sweet and tangy with lingering vanilla cream, lime citrus, soft oak and confectionery sweetness.
Serve: Enjoy neat initially, then add a few drops of water to soften the 57.8% cask strength and reveal more raspberry, butter, vanilla and citrus.
