LOUIS XIII Mathusalem is a distinguished expression within the LOUIS XIII Cognac portfolio, crafted by the prestigious Cognac house Rémy Martin. This offering stands as a paragon of excellence in the realm of Cognac, celebrated for its exceptional quality, exclusivity, and distinctive presentation. Key facets of LOUIS XIII Mathusalem include:
- Age and Craftsmanship: LOUIS XIII Mathusalem is meticulously created from a blend of eaux-de-vie (grape brandies) aged for up to a century. The precise age of the constituent spirits in each Mathusalem decanter may slightly vary, but they consistently encompass an assemblage of exceptionally old and rare components.
- Artistic Presentation: The hallmark of LOUIS XIII Mathusalem is its superlative packaging. The Mathusalem decanter is an exquisite masterpiece of crystal craftsmanship, handcrafted by the venerable French crystal house, Baccarat. Significantly larger than the standard LOUIS XIII decanter, the Mathusalem vessel accommodates an impressive 6 liters (6000ml) of Cognac, rendering it an illustrious collector's item.
- Flavor Profundity: LOUIS XIII Cognac, including the Mathusalem iteration, is revered for its intricate and opulent flavor profile. Tasting notes often encompass a harmonious fusion of dried fruits, honeyed nuances, floral intricacies, subtle spices, oak influences, and an enduring, resonant finish. The protracted aging process and artisanal craftsmanship underpin its remarkable depth and elegance.
- Exclusivity and Rarity: LOUIS XIII Mathusalem is meticulously produced in exceedingly limited quantities. Each Mathusalem decanter is individually numbered and is accompanied by an official certificate of authenticity. Its scarcity, combined with its opulent presentation, elevates it to a status emblematic of luxury and sophistication.
- Connoisseurship: LOUIS XIII Cognac, including Mathusalem, is traditionally savored with great reverence. It is ideally served at ambient temperature or gently warmed in a tulip-shaped glass to accentuate its bouquet and complexity. Often reserved for special occasions, it epitomizes a symbol of luxury and discernment.
- Price Point: LOUIS XIII Mathusalem represents one of the most exclusive and costly Cognacs globally. Its price may exhibit considerable variance contingent upon factors such as the age and rarity of the specific bottle, rendering it an investment that primarily appeals to collectors and connoisseurs of the highest echelon.
- Heritage and Legacy: The LOUIS XIII brand bears a venerable legacy, with a storied tradition of crafting superlative Cognac extending back to the 19th century. Mathusalem pays homage to this rich heritage and is regarded as the pinnacle of the LOUIS XIII portfolio.
