Redwood Empire Colonel Armstrong Wheated Bourbon Whiskey 750 mL is a Northern California wheated bourbon named for Colonel James Armstrong. Redwood Empire describes a mash bill of 59% corn and 30% wheat, rounded out with 6% rye and 5% malted barley. Its small-batch expression is presented here as one 750 mL bottle, not the six-bottle wholesale case.
The producer describes a soft, rounded mouthfeel with ripe stone fruit, a touch of vanilla and honeyed grain. A hint of strawberry gives way to gentle baking spice and a smooth oak finish. The layered fruit and spice notes balance a rounded grain character. The oak remains present on the finish without overwhelming the softer vanilla and fruit impressions.
Pour it neat to explore the fruit and grain notes, or use it in a bourbon-forward cocktail. Redwood Empire named the expression for Colonel James Armstrong, whose story is tied to the preservation of Northern California’s Armstrong Woods. This wheated bourbon combines familiar whiskey warmth with a distinctive wheat-rich mash bill. The consumer unit is one 750 mL bottle at 47% ABV (94 proof).
