Rare Character Exceptional Cask Series 'E-TN-98' 13 Year Tennessee Whiskey is a remarkable single barrel release from Rare Character's premium Exceptional Cask Series, showcasing an outstanding example of aged Tennessee whiskey at its finest. This limited expression features 13-year-old Tennessee whiskey from a single exceptional barrel, hand-selected for its superior quality, complexity, and character that set it apart from standard releases. The alphanumeric designation 'E-TN-98' identifies this specific barrel within Rare Character's meticulously curated portfolio, with each Exceptional Cask Series release representing the pinnacle of their sourcing and selection process. Tennessee whiskey undergoes the Lincoln County Process—charcoal mellowing before aging—which imparts a distinctive smoothness, and 13 years of maturation allows this whiskey to develop extraordinary depth while the single barrel format preserves its unique personality. This is a collector's bottle and connoisseur's whiskey, representing the intersection of Tennessee tradition, extended aging, and expert barrel curation that serious whiskey enthusiasts actively seek.
On the nose, this 13-year Tennessee whiskey reveals complex aromas of caramel, maple, and vanilla with layers of charred oak, dried fruit, butterscotch, leather, and warm spices that reflect its maturity and the mellowing influence of the Lincoln County Process. The palate is rich and full-bodied, delivering flavors of brown sugar, toffee, toasted oak, and dark fruit with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, tobacco, and black pepper that create remarkable depth and sophistication. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant with persistent oak, sweet caramel, spice, and the smooth, refined character that extended aging and charcoal mellowing produce. The 13 years have created beautiful integration where wood influence, spirit character, and Tennessee's distinctive production method work in perfect harmony without any harsh edges or over-oaking. Best enjoyed neat or with minimal water to appreciate the full complexity and unique character of this specific barrel. Whether you're a whiskey collector seeking single barrel releases with genuine age and provenance, exploring premium Tennessee whiskey beyond the usual suspects, or appreciate the Exceptional Cask Series approach of showcasing truly outstanding barrels, Rare Character 'E-TN-98' 13 Year Tennessee Whiskey delivers mature sophistication and the distinctive character that makes single barrel, well-aged Tennessee whiskey a compelling choice for serious enthusiasts.
