This premium red vermouth originates from the Veneto region of northern Italy, uniquely tied to the territory surrounding the historical city of Bassano del Grappa. The product is crafted by Poli Distillerie, a renowned family run estate established in 1898 that carries four generations of artisanal distillation tradition. The modern formulation honors a historic recipe handwritten in the 1930s by great grandfather GioBatta Poli, blending deep regional roots with contemporary style.
Wine Description
This red vermouth displays a vibrant ruby red core with deep amber undertones in the glass. The nose delivers a highly expressive and unique aromatic profile reminiscent of a fresh grape cluster beautifully wrapped in aromatic herbs and spices. On the palate, it is dry, spicy, and wonderfully structured, revealing a delicate bittersweet balance that avoids excessive sweetness. The body is rich, smooth, and texturally harmonious, layering notes of cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and caramel alongside a sophisticated herbal undertone. It culminates in a clean, invigorating, and pleasantly persistent finish marked by a light touch of spice and dryness. The unique structural foundation relies entirely on Merlot, a red wine variety cultivated in the local DOC area since the late 19th century. This wine base undergoes a natural infusion with 33 aromatic botanicals, showcasing characteristic regional plants like holy thistle and musky yarrow alongside rhubarb, vanilla, pimento, ginger, and liquorice. The product features an alcohol by volume of 18%.
