This prestigious and world-renowned sparkling wine originates from the Champagne region of France. Founded in 1849, Pol Roger remains one of the few elite Champagne houses that is still family-owned and independent. The winery's philosophy is defined by a commitment to style and consistency, famously earning the loyalty of Sir Winston Churchill, who remarked that his tastes were simple: he was "easily satisfied with the best." The Brut Reserve, affectionately known as 'White Foil' due to its iconic capsule, is the definitive house cuvée, representing a perfect balance of power and finesse.
Wine Description
The Pol Roger Brut Reserve 'White Foil' presents a beautiful straw-yellow colour with a fine, persistent stream of bubbles. The sensory profile is elegant and complex, featuring an expressive nose of pear, mango, and honeysuckle, layered with rich notes of brioche, vanilla, and jasmine. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied and remarkably balanced, showcasing flavours of cooked fruit, quince jelly, and apricot jam. It is characterized by its refreshing acidity and a long, firm finish that reveals hints of beeswax and acacia honey. This cuvée is an equal blend of 33% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, and 33% Pinot Meunier, with an ABV of 12.5%. The wine typically includes 25% reserve wines and is aged for a minimum of four years in the house’s deep, cool cellars, the deepest in Épernay, to develop its signature creamy texture.
