Planet Oregon Pinot Noir 2022 originates from the United States, specifically from the renowned Willamette Valley in Oregon. This wine is a value-driven project from Soter Vineyards, a winery founded by Tony and Michelle Soter that focuses on sustainable practices and high-quality fruit. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes environmental stewardship, evidenced by the brand donating 1% of all sales to the Oregon Environmental Council.
Wine Description
This Pinot Noir presents a youthful magenta and ruby colour in the glass. The aromatic profile is expressive, featuring scents of chocolate, fresh berries, and cherry pie, alongside nuanced notes of toasted spice, lilac, and pine needles. On the palate, the wine is smooth and rich, delivering flavours of raspberry jam, pie cherries, and blueberry, complemented by savoury hints of black tea, orange zest, and cloves. The body is medium and approachable, showing a snappy texture with fine, zesty tannins and balanced acidity that leads to a clean, fresh finish. This 100% Pinot Noir was aged for 8 months in used French oak barrels and possesses an ABV of 13.5%. The wine is produced using grapes that are 90% LIVE Certified Sustainable, 9% organically farmed, and 1% biodynamically farmed.
Food Pairing
The vibrant acidity and red fruit profile of this wine make it a classic companion for Pacific Northwest salmon, whether grilled or roasted. It also pairs excellently with earthy dishes such as wild mushroom risotto, roasted beets, or a duck ragu. For meat-based options, consider herb-roasted chicken, pork tenderloin, or lean cuts of lamb seasoned with rosemary.
