Pierre Huet Cidre Pays d'Auge is a classic, artisan cider produced at the Manoir la Brière des Fontaines in Cambremer, Normandy. The Huet family has been perfecting their craft since 1865, and their estate is a cornerstone of the famous "Route du Cidre." Holding the prestigious AOP (Appellation d'Origine Protégée) status, this cider is made exclusively from apples grown on the estate’s 30 hectares of traditional high-stem and low-stem orchards. It is a "pure juice" cider, meaning it is naturally fermented without added water, sugar, or carbonation, relying on the ancestral "ancestral method" of bottle fermentation to create its bubbles.
Description
This cider is typically a demi-sec (semi-dry) expression with a moderate alcohol content of 4.5% ABV. It presents a brilliant golden-orange hue with fine, persistent effervescence.
Nose: Intense and complex, leading with aromas of ripe "loft apples," fresh butter, and a hint of honey. As it breathes, it reveals secondary notes of dried apricot and a subtle vegetal freshness.
Palate: The entry is round and generous, offering a perfect balance between fruity sweetness and a sophisticated, well-integrated bitterness. The texture is often described as "fluffy" or creamy due to the natural bottle fermentation.
Finish: Long and clean, characterized by a refreshing touch of astringency and a lingering hint of caramelized apple.
