Most "celebrity" spirits are branding exercises, but Carey Bringle is a pitmaster first and a whiskey maker second. The Peg Leg Porker 8-Year-Old is a legitimate marriage of those two worlds. Sourced from exceptional Tennessee stocks—featuring a high-corn mashbill that brings immense natural sweetness—this bourbon spends eight years in new charred oak before Bringle gets his hands on it.
Here is where the magic happens. Unlike traditional Tennessee Whiskey, which is charcoal mellowed before aging, this spirit is filtered through hickory charcoal after aging. And not just any charcoal; it’s burned down from the same wood used in Bringle’s award-winning BBQ pits. This finishing process strips away the harsh alcohols while imparting a signature, savory "lick" of smoke that you can’t fake.
Bottled at 90 proof, it remains incredibly approachable while offering a complexity that standard bourbons lack. You are tasting the result of a man who understands that smoke is an ingredient, not a mask. If you love dry rub ribs, this is the only thing you should be drinking.
