Winemaking Blending wine is truly an art form as winemakers skillfully test different proportions to unlock the perfect varietal balance. In this case, a 50/50 split in the magic number. Merlot drives the wine’s elegant profile, floral notes, and bright fruit, while Malbec brings its darker fruit character, earthiness, and structure. Oak adds a final layer of spice before the cork is sealed on a multilayered masterpiece.
Vintage The 2022 growing season was a beautiful one in the vineyards of Sonoma Coast. Sun-loving Merlot and Malbec enjoyed a warm, dry ripening season without the interruption of summer storms. High heat in early autumn meant harvest was pushed up in order to capture the perfect balance of ripe fruit flavor and natural acidity.
Pairing Logic This delightful blend is an excellent go-to for food and wine pairing. Savory aromas, oaky spice, and smooth tannins make it a perfect match for herbal or baking spice-inspired seasonings, tender red meat or pork. Select earthy vegetables and legumes seasoned with salt and olive oil for vegetarian dishes to highlight the wine’s body and ripe berry flavors. Elevate the experience even further by featuring lavender or balsamic in your sauces and marinades for a harmonious pairing experience.
