Ole Smoky Bourbon Ball turns a classic Southern candy into something you can pour. A bourbon ball is a chocolate treat with a little bourbon tucked inside. Here, Ole Smoky blends milk chocolate flavor with its own bourbon whiskey and real cream.
It comes from Ole Smoky Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. At 35 proof, it is gentle and easy to sip. It sits closer to a cream liqueur than to a straight whiskey, so you can enjoy it without any burn.
The aroma leans toward chocolate right away. On the palate you get creamy milk chocolate first, with soft bourbon warmth underneath. Creamy vanilla and warm caramel notes build toward the middle. The finish stays sweet and smooth, a lot like the last bite of a chocolate truffle.
Serve it well chilled or over ice for an easy after-dinner drink. It is also lovely in your coffee on a slow weekend morning. For a quick dessert, pour a little over vanilla ice cream. Pecans, brownies and coffee cake all sit nicely beside it.
This bottle makes a sweet gift for friends who like dessert drinks more than neat whiskey. It also fits holiday parties, Valentine's Day and cozy nights on the couch.
