Old Forester Whiskey Row 1920 is another expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row Series. Here are some key details about Old Forester 1920:
- Prohibition Era Inspiration: The "1920" in the name refers to the year the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was enacted, which led to the Prohibition era. During this time, the production and sale of alcoholic beverages were banned. However, some distilleries were granted permits to produce whiskey for medicinal purposes. Old Forester 1920 pays homage to this historical period.
- Barrel Strength: Old Forester 1920 is known for being bottled at barrel strength, meaning it is not diluted with water before bottling. This results in a higher alcohol by volume (ABV) content and a more intense flavor profile.
- Rich and Robust Flavor Profile: The bourbon is celebrated for its rich and robust flavor profile, featuring notes of dark chocolate, caramel, dried fruit, and spices. The lack of dilution at barrel strength contributes to a bold and full-bodied taste.
- Aging Process: Old Forester 1920 undergoes an extended aging process, allowing the bourbon to mature and develop complex flavors. The aging process plays a crucial role in shaping the final character of the whiskey.
- Enjoyment: As with many barrel-strength bourbons, Old Forester 1920 is often enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to unlock its full range of flavors. The high proof and concentrated flavors make it a sipping whiskey.
