You get a bold, full-flavored bourbon that mixes sweetness and spice from the first sip. Caramel and rich vanilla come first. Then you taste seasoned oak and warm cinnamon. Rye in the mash bill brings pepper and clove. Together they give the bourbon a deep, layered profile. The finish lingers with steady spice and gentle heat.
When you raise the glass, you notice warm aromas of toasted oak and caramel. Vanilla and baking spice add depth without feeling heavy. The nose sets you up for the rich flavor that follows.
On the palate, the whiskey stays smooth. You get a soft, silky entry. Then the rye spice grows and leaves a long, warm finish. Look for cinnamon, pepper and a little lingering oak.
Old Forester bottles it at 95 proof from hand-picked barrels. Those barrels come from the warmest spots in the warehouse. You can enjoy it neat or with a splash of water to open it up. It also holds its own in an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. If you like bold, complex bourbon with real character, this one fits you. If you prefer light or mild whiskey, it might feel too intense.
