124 bottles is the smallest yield among the thirteen-year Old Carter single barrels we carry. Thirteen Kentucky summers take a heavy toll on a cask, and this one had very little left in it by the time it was dumped at 60.45% ABV.
Old Carter Whiskey Co. is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who built Kentucky Owl into a cult brand before selling it in 2017 and starting again under their own name. This is sourced Kentucky bourbon rather than Old Carter's own distillate — the Carters buy mature barrels, taste through them and bottle the ones worth releasing individually.
Thirteen years brings depth and concentration: dark caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, mature oak, baking spice, dark fruit and toasted sugar, carried by the proof into a long, warming close.
