Tequila Ocho's Huichol Art Añejo marries the exquisite purity of award-winning single-estate tequila with the sophisticated complexity of oak aging, all ensconced in a bottle that is itself a sacred work of art. Each pattern of beads and yarn imbued with sacred symbolism represents prayers, visions, and connections to nature, the sun, and ancient traditions—a tribute to the Wixárika (Huichol) people, who craft spiritual narratives through color. This limited-edition expression begins as a Single Estate Tequila crafted by legendary master distiller Carlos Camarena, showcasing the unique terroir from a specific agave field in Jalisco's Los Altos region. The 100% Blue Weber agave is harvested from carefully selected fields and aged for a minimum of one year in American oak barrels, creating layers of flavor that showcase the perfect marriage of sweet agave and wood influence.
The nose opens with butterscotch and toasted marshmallow, followed by peanut brittle and oak spices, while the palate delivers rich caramel sweetness with rye spices and roasted nuts, finishing with stewed apples, aged malt notes, and a spicy white pepper kick. This is oak-aged tequila that maintains Ocho's hallmark character—concentrated and complex while remaining balanced and easy to drink. The extended aging process imparts remarkable depth and smoothness, transforming the bright agave spirit into something that rivals aged spirits from around the world.
As Tequila Ocho celebrates single-estate agave harvests and yearly vintages, making them rare and collectible, each Huichol Art bottle becomes a true collector's treasure—a functional work of art that honors indigenous Mexican heritage while delivering exceptional tequila craftsmanship. Perfect served neat in a snifter to appreciate its full complexity, or as a sophisticated foundation for elevated cocktails. This is tequila as both spirit and art form, a limited-edition expression that refuses to compromise on either dimension.
