Murray McDavid Mission Gold North British 35 Year Old is a limited-release Lowland single grain Scotch whisky distilled in 1988 and bottled in spring 2024 at 52.1% ABV. Matured for 34 years in bourbon hogsheads before spending its final year in first-fill ex-Islay peated whisky casks, it offers a refined balance of creamy vanilla, salted butter and gentle smoke. Notes of candied pineapple, sea spray and mellow oak lead into a lingering finish of citrus peel and delicate peat smoke.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, roasted pork, aged Gouda, toasted almonds, grilled seafood, vanilla crème brûlée or citrus desserts.
Tasting Notes: Smooth and complex, with creamy vanilla, salted butter, candied pineapple, coastal salinity and gentle peat smoke.
Nose: Rich and inviting, with salted butter, creamy vanilla and mellow charred oak.
Palate: Silky and balanced, with candied pineapple, sea spray and delicate peat smoke.
Finish: Lingering and slightly oily, with citrus peel and soft, persistent smoke.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass, allowing it to breathe before adding a few drops of water to reveal its creamy texture and subtle smoky character.
