Morris Tokay Barrel Australian Single Malt Whisky is a highly acclaimed release from Morris of Rutherglen, located in Victoria, Australia. Crafted from locally sourced Australian malted barley, this expression is initially matured in rejuvenated wine casks before being finished in hand-selected fresh barrels that previously held Morris' award-winning Cellar Reserve Grand Topaque (Tokay) fortified wine. The result is a decadent, rich, and layered single malt that perfectly showcases the harmony between the distillery's clean malt character and the deeply sweet, nutty influence of the Topaque casks.
Food Pairing: Goat's cheese, vegetable frittata, charcuterie, dark chocolate, and rich desserts like pecan pie.
Tasting Notes : Golden amber to medium gold in color, delivering a wonderfully well-rounded, delicate, and velvety mouthfeel on the palate.
Nose : Concentrated aromas of sweet toffee, malt, butterscotch, caramel, and marzipan, highlighted by a distinct nuttiness and subtle grain notes.
Palate : Delicate muscadelle grapes and a warm, elegant sweetness balanced by rich mocha, soft caramel, marzipan, dark berries, and a touch of oak.
Finish : Luxurious, long, and velvety, with creamy malt intertwining with luscious fruits, lingering refreshingly on the palate.
Serve : Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass at room temperature, or with a few drops of water to open up the sweet, fruity complexities.
