Morris Single Malt Signature Whisky is produced in Australia, specifically in the Rutherglen region of North East Victoria. While the Morris family has been renowned for producing world class fortified wines since 1859, they expanded into whisky production in 2016 following a union with the Casella family to form the Cooper & Grain Distilling Co.. The distillery utilizes a fully restored hybrid copper pot and column still, originally installed at the winery in 1941, to create spirits that reflect the local terroir and a century of family craftsmanship.
Spirit Description
Crafted from 100% Australian malted barley and water from the Snowy Mountains, this signature expression is matured in local ex red wine barrels before a final finish in the distillery's own fortified wine casks.
Colour: The whisky presents a medium gold appearance with bright topaz hues.
Aroma: The nose is a balance of sweet orchard fruits, macerated black cherries, and fine biscuit notes, complemented by floral accents.
Palate: It offers an extremely well rounded mouthfeel featuring zesty marmalade jam, rich dark chocolate, and persistent dark berry flavours such as blackberry.
Body: The spirit is described as wonderfully well rounded with a pleasantly delicate and silky texture.
Finish: A long and refreshing finish delivers an intense depth of dried fruit character that lingers on the palate.
ABV: This expression is bottled at 40% or 44% depending on the specific market release.
