Privada Storytelling
The Montecristo Espada Oscuro Guard is a bold continuation of the Espada legacy — a series that broke ground by being the first Montecristo blend made entirely from Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Oscuro takes that vision deeper, cloaking the blend in a dark, oily Habano Rosado Oscuro wrapper that amplifies richness and intensity.
In the 6 × 50 Guard vitola, the cigar strikes a perfect balance between power and nuance. It’s a story of Nicaraguan terroir told in four voices: Jalapa sweetness, Estelí spice, Condega balance, and Ometepe’s rare volcanic richness. Together, they create a harmony of strength and sophistication worthy of the Montecristo name.
Flavor Journey
The cigar opens with bold black pepper and espresso, quickly joined by cedar and leather. As the smoke progresses, dark chocolate and baking spice emerge, adding warmth and depth. Midway, hints of dried fruit sweetness and molasses appear, rounding the profile. The final third intensifies with spice and cocoa, finishing long and robust without harshness.
Why It Belongs in Privada
Privada exists to highlight cigars that merge history with innovation, and the Montecristo Espada Oscuro Guard does exactly that. It respects Montecristo’s legacy of refinement while embracing the boldness of Nicaraguan tobacco. This cigar belongs in Privada because it speaks to tradition reimagined — a timeless brand daring to explore deeper, darker flavors.
