There is Montecristo tradition, and then there is Montecristo interpreted through Nicaraguan soil. The Espada Conquistador Quillon belongs firmly in the latter camp—a sophisticated Nicaraguan puro that trades the familiar profile of classic Montecristo for the depth, structure and unmistakable tobacco character of the Plasencia family’s finest growing regions.
Created by Rafael Nodal and the Plasencias, Conquistador draws deliberately from Nicaragua’s principal growing regions, combining a Jalapa wrapper, Ometepe binder, and fillers from Condega and Estelí. It is a thoughtful composition: Jalapa contributes refinement and natural sweetness, while the heartier tobaccos underneath provide the depth, structure and spice expected from a serious Nicaraguan puro.
At 7" x 56, the Quillon gives this blend plenty of room to unfold. The larger format tempers the underlying strength while allowing the individual tobaccos to develop gradually, revealing cedar, earth, coffee and measured spice rather than relying on sheer intensity.
Conquistador occupies an intriguing place in the Espada family—richer and more assertive than the original, yet more restrained than Espada Oscuro.
