The McConnell’s 5 Year Old Cognac Cask Finish is the most luxurious expression in McConnell’s acclaimed 5-Year-Old Series, combining classic Irish whiskey character with the refined elegance of carefully selected French Cognac casks. Crafted from a blend of Irish malt and Irish grain whiskey, this release is first matured for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels before receiving a distinctive finishing period in exceptional Cognac casks chosen by Master Distiller Graeme Millar.
This rare style of maturation brings a sophisticated depth and floral complexity rarely seen in Irish whiskey. The Cognac casks enhance the whiskey’s smooth texture while layering delicate fruit sweetness and warming spice over the bourbon cask foundation.
On the nose and palate, expect vibrant notes of candied lemon, dried pineapple, gentle vanilla sweetness, and lingering ginger spice. The influence of the Cognac casks introduces elegant floral undertones and a silky richness that balances beautifully with the whiskey’s natural warmth and sweetness.
Smooth, refined, and approachable, McConnell’s 5 Year Old Cognac Cask Finish is ideal enjoyed neat or as a luxurious sipping whiskey. For enthusiasts exploring premium Irish whiskey in Ireland, this release offers a modern and distinctive take on cask-finished Irish whiskey with exceptional balance and character.
