Mary Dowling Tequila Barrel Finish Bourbon Whiskey is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey made with a high-rye mash bill and finished in reposado tequila barrels. The producer states that the bourbon first matures for more than three years in American oak. This listing is for one 750 mL bottle at 45.5% ABV and 91 proof.
The tequila-barrel finish adds a distinctive layer to the bourbon without changing its underlying whiskey identity. Producer tasting notes highlight agave, citrus, toasted oak and vanilla, balancing bright accents with the sweetness and spice of mature bourbon. The blue label identifies this exact tequila-finished expression and separates it from Mary Dowling’s red-label toasted double-oak barrel-strength release.
Serve neat or over a large cube to follow the transition from vanilla and oak into citrus and agave notes. It can also bring extra depth to a spirit-forward whiskey cocktail. Pair it with grilled meats, roasted nuts, firm cheeses or citrus-accented desserts, and store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place.
