The Martinelli family has been growing grapes in the Russian River Valley since the 1880s, when founders Giuseppe Martinelli and Luisa Vellutini eloped from Italy and began farming land. Now in their sixth generation of farming, the family continues their legacy of hands-on farming and stewardship of the land, with a primary goal of hand-crafting quality wines born in their estate vineyards. The wines are minimally handled, unfined, and unfiltered, allowing the true nature of the vineyard to shine through.
Wine Description
The wine offers aromas of rich red raspberry, cinnamon, and sweet clove. The palate is lively and full of juicy red plum and black cherry flavours, which lead to exotic spice notes and a long finish.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings for this rich and intense Zinfandel include lamb or a venison main course with elements like beetroot, caramelized chestnuts, chocolate, and juniper. For a vegetarian option, try grilled portobello mushrooms or roasted eggplant, which highlight the wine's herbal hints.
