Marcotte Spicy Cinnamon Moonshine comes from Marcotte Distilling, a family business in Philomath, Oregon. Joe and Janelle Marcotte started the company after selling their trucking business. They chose flavored moonshine as their focus, and this bottle is their spicy cinnamon take.
Like the rest of the Marcotte line, it begins with corn whiskey. Extra distillation lightens that base, which leaves room for the added flavor. Here the flavor is cinnamon, and it sits front and center.
The aroma is all warm cinnamon, with a soft sugary note underneath. On the palate, the spice hits first and warms your whole mouth. A gentle sweetness follows, so the heat stays in check. The finish is warm and spicy, and it fades with a light sweet touch.
You can serve it well chilled as a quick shot. Pour it over ice if you want to slow the burn. It also mixes nicely with apple cider or cola for an easy, spicy highball. For a treat, sip it next to apple pie, dark chocolate or roasted nuts.
It's a fun pick if you love cinnamon candy flavors and lively party drinks. Keep a bottle in the freezer for cold nights, tailgates and game days. It also makes a cheerful gift for friends who like a little heat.
