Marchesi Antinori Solaia 2010 is an exceptional, landmark Super Tuscan crafted from a premier 20-hectare southwest-facing hillside vineyard located on the Tenuta Tignanello estate in the heart of Chianti Classico. Aged for approximately 18 months in new French oak barriques, this magnificent vintage displays an intense, deep ruby-red color with violet highlights. The nose opens with an extraordinarily complex and aromatic bouquet of blackcurrant, dark cherry, ripe plum, and graphite, seamlessly layered with notes of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, crushed violet, and espresso bean. On the palate, it reveals remarkable concentration and structure, presenting fine-grained, silky tannins and a vibrant, driving acidity that carries its pure core of dark fruit through to an exceptionally long, refined, and persistent finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs magnificently with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, wild boar ragù, or well-aged Pecorino Toscano cheese.

A triumph for Solaia: it suggests the greatness of the legendary 1997. This is a wine with very subtle, complex aromas and flavours of currants, licorice and raspberries. Wonderful nose. Full body with ultra-fine tannins and a long, long finish. It lasts for minutes on the palate. The precision of the cabrenet sauvignon comes through here.

First, is the wine’s sweet side, as this beautiful 75-20-5 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc delivers ripe cherry, black currant, baking spice and dark chocolate. After that, the wine becomes redolent of tobacco, balsam, bay leaf, rum cake and dark licorice. The bouquet is all encompassing and complete. A firmly structured backbone is padded generously by the fleshy richness of its consistency. This is a gorgeous wine that will age for decades. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2040.
