Produced by Whitehaven Wine Company in New Zealand, this wine is sourced from the prestigious Marlborough region, specifically utilizing fruit from the Wairau Valley, Awatere Valley, and Southern Valleys. The Mansion House Bay range is deeply personal to co-founders Greg and Sue White, named after the historic property on Kawau Island where Greg proposed. Whitehaven is dedicated to crafting wines with 'honesty and integrity' that reflect the distinct subregional diversity of Marlborough.
Wine Description
This Sauvignon Blanc presents a vibrant, light straw appearance with a subtle green hue. The bouquet is lifted and expressive, featuring aromas of stone fruit, grapefruit, and green plums, complemented by delicate herbal notes and hints of tropical guava. On the palate, the wine is zesty and medium bodied, displaying excellent fruit purity and a juicy core of citrus and melon. Its structure is defined by a refreshing, crisp acidity that carries the tropical flavours through to a long, clean finish.
Food Pairing
The wine's bright acidity and herbaceous profile make it an exceptional partner for sustainably sourced seafood, such as grilled sea bass with citrus butter or fresh oysters with a mignonette sauce. It also pairs naturally with tangy goat cheese, vibrant summer salads featuring fennel and basil, or light poultry dishes seasoned with rosemary.
