Another phenomenal example of creativity the 2024 vintage inspired. This is a special, experimental micro-cuvée. The Les Cazetiers 1er Cru from Domaine Henri Magnien typically sees 12 months in barrel before release. In this case, a small quantity remained in the barrel for another 12 months before release. This extended maturation intensified many of the qualities seen in the conventional 2023 Cazetiers. The familiar, fresh red berry and floral characteristics are transformed into darker fruit with distinct savoury notes like earth and truffle. Charles has noted that while the classic version of the Cazetiers starts to open up and show terroir qualities at the 5-8 year mark, this iteration shows much more Gevrey-Chambertin typicity earlier in its lifespan. Only 2700 bottles of this wine were produced and is a must try.
