The Macanudo Sumatra Robusto Box Pressed represents a more expressive side of one of the most recognizable names in premium cigars. Built alongside the new Ecuadorian Shade release, the Sumatra keeps Macanudo’s reputation for balance intact while moving the profile into darker, richer territory. Handcrafted in Estelí, Nicaragua, this 5" x 50 box-pressed Robusto features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a U.S. Broadleaf binder and a carefully constructed filler blend of Dominican Piloto, Dominican Olor, Nicaraguan Condega, and Nicaraguan Estelí tobaccos.
The Robusto format gives the Sumatra wrapper immediate presence. Where Macanudo’s Shade expression leans creamy and restrained, the Sumatra brings more wood, spice, and savory depth. The Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf contributes aroma, texture, and a darker natural sweetness, while the Broadleaf binder gives the cigar structure and weight. Beneath it, the Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers add balance, allowing notes of oak, dark wood, coffee, and subtle spice to unfold without losing the smoothness Macanudo smokers expect.
For enthusiasts who have always respected Macanudo’s construction but wanted more character from the blend, the Sumatra Robusto Box Pressed is the answer. It is compact, polished, and flavorful without becoming heavy-handed — a modern Macanudo built for smokers who appreciate refinement, but no longer want mild to mean predictable.
