This just in! Our Maader 99 Viognier brought home the "Best of South Africa AVA" designation, a Gold Medal and 91 points from the 2022 Harvest Terroir Challenge!
Our Maader 99 Viognier is a notably leaner style of this popular grape with zesty citrus aromas and a bright, focused palate featuring tropical fruit flavors. This elegant expression comes as a result of Swartland’s Mediterranean climate, where warm days shape exotic fruit notes and cool nights work to preserve Viognier’s naturally low levels of acidity. Soils here have an impeccable ability to hold onto water, hydrating vines throughout the region’s long, dry summers before the Southern Hemisphere harvest takes place in March and April. As members of Fairtrade International™, our local winemaking partners who tend to these vines share our respect and understanding of the importance of nature and community. This Viognier embodies our mutual commitment to share the beauty of South African winemaking culture with the world; now it’s your turn. Enjoy this wine with family and friends paired with family-style meals and impactful conversation. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.
