Domaine Lucien Muzard & Fils is deeply rooted in the village of Santenay, with family origins tracing back to 1645. The modern domaine was founded by Lucien Muzard in the 1960s. Today, Lucien's sons, Claude and Hervé, lead the estate with a philosophy that balances traditional vinification with modern techniques, bottling the entire production of their 20.5 hectares, 80% of which is dedicated to red wine. They cultivate a passion for wine and a profound respect for the land, aiming to create exceptional wines that embody the authenticity of the Burgundy terroir.
Wine Description
The Santenay 'Vieilles Vignes' is made from 100% Pinot Noir. It displays a bright to deep ruby colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of fresh red fruits, black fruits like blackberry and black cherry, violet, and sweet spices. The texture is velvety, supported by silky, well-present tannins. It is an authentic and refined expression of the Santenay terroir, showcasing lovely volume of red fruit, a sense of purity, and terrific length. The finish often reveals notes of liquorice, pepper, and warm stone.
Food Pairing
This Santenay 'Vieilles Vignes' is a great match for roasted or grilled red and white meats, such as a veal roast with herbs or a grilled pork chop with thyme. Its balance of fruit and structure also pairs well with mature cheeses or a truffle Brie.
