Overview
The LUCCA A53 Pro is a compact dual-boiler espresso machine built for serious home baristas, small cafés, offices, and coffee carts that need commercial performance without commercial size or inflexibility. What sets it apart is its ability to switch between reservoir and direct plumbing operation, giving you the option to plumb it in permanently or run it portable without choosing between two different machines. Built on La Spaziale's commercial foundation with a 53mm group head, independent PID-controlled boilers, and a rotary pump, it delivers precise temperature control, quiet operation, and powerful steaming in a package designed for flexibility and consistent results.
Dual-Boiler System with Independent PID Control
The A53 Pro runs separate boilers for brewing and steaming, each with its own PID temperature controller. The 0.45L brew boiler maintains precise, stable temperatures for extraction, while the 2.5L steam boiler provides sustained power for back-to-back drinks. Independent control means you can dial in your ideal brew temperature without affecting steam performance, and vice versa. This setup eliminates the temperature lag and recovery time you get with single-boiler machines, so you can pull shots and steam milk simultaneously without waiting or compromising on either.
Reservoir and Direct Plumbing Capability!
Unlike most machines, which force you to choose between plumbed or reservoir operation at purchase, the A53 Pro switches between both modes without modification or separate versions. Start with the 2.4L BPA-free reservoir for portability and flexibility, then plumb it in when you're ready for permanent installation. This makes it practical for coffee carts, food trucks, pop-up operations, or home setups where you want the option to hardwire later. The machine detects which mode you're using and adjusts functionality accordingly, including enabling adjustable pre-infusion when plumbed.
53mm Commercial Group Head
The A53 Pro uses a full commercial 53mm group head, the same size found in many café machines. This larger thermal mass maintains consistent brew temperature shot after shot, reducing the temperature drop that smaller residential groups experience under high-volume use. The commercial construction also means better longevity and easier serviceability compared to proprietary residential group designs. For baristas used to working on commercial equipment, the workflow and extraction behavior will feel immediately familiar.
Rotary Pump with Adjustable Pre-Infusion
The rotary pump operates significantly quieter than the vibratory pumps found in most home machines, making the A53 Pro well-suited for noise-sensitive environments like offices or early morning home use. When operating in plumbed mode, the rotary pump enables adjustable pre-infusion, allowing you to gradually saturate the puck before full pressure extraction. This helps manage channeling, improve extraction evenness, and bring out more complexity in lighter roasts. The quieter operation and programmable pre-infusion make the machine more versatile and less intrusive in shared spaces.
Volumetric Dosing with Shot Timer and Brew Lights
The A53 Pro includes volumetric dosing with two programmable shot profiles, allowing you to set precise shot volumes and replicate them consistently without timing manually. Once programmed, the machine stops the shot automatically at your target volume, making it easier to maintain consistency across multiple drinks or train new users. Integrated brew lights illuminate the work area and portafilter during extraction, while the onboard shot timer tracks your pull in real time. Together, these features support a more visible, repeatable workflow whether you're dialing in a new coffee or running a busy service.
Adjustable Steam Pressure
The adjustable steam pressure control lets you tune steam power to match your milk type, texture preference, or pitcher size. Lower pressure works well for smaller pitchers or alternative milks that require gentler handling, while higher pressure speeds up steaming for larger volumes or traditional dairy. This level of control is uncommon in machines at this size and price point, and it gives you more flexibility to adapt your steaming technique rather than working around fixed steam performance.
Increased Cup Clearance and Practical Design
The A53 Pro provides ample clearance under the group head to accommodate a scale and larger cups or mugs without obstruction. This makes it easier to weigh shots in real time, pull directly into travel mugs, or use taller vessels without switching to a drip tray configuration. The increased height supports a more ergonomic workflow and reduces the need to transfer drinks between containers. Combined with the quiet operation, bright work lights, and compact footprint, the machine is designed around practical, everyday use rather than purely aesthetic considerations.
Bluetooth Connectivity and iOS App
The La Spaziale iOS app connects to the A53 Pro via Bluetooth, allowing you to program a daily on/off schedule and adjust settings remotely. You can set the machine to warm up automatically before your usual brew time, so it's ready to pull shots when you walk into the kitchen or café. The app also provides access to temperature adjustments and other parameters without navigating the machine's control panel. For commercial users running the machine in an office or small café, scheduled operation reduces energy use and ensures the machine is ready when needed without manual startup each morning.
NOTE: Direct-plumbed operation requires the LUCCA A53 Pro Direct Plumb Kit, sold separately.
NOTE: This machine is drop shipped, and subject to lead-times
