Lemon Hart Original 1804 Rum is a historic Caribbean rum that carries one of the most storied names in rum history, dating back to 1804 when Lehman Hart established his rum blending house in Cornwall, England. This expression revives the legacy of Lemon Hart as a supplier of premium Demerara rum to the Royal Navy and British pubs for over two centuries. Made from rich Demerara rum distilled in Guyana and blended to capture the bold, full-bodied character that made Lemon Hart legendary among sailors and rum enthusiasts, this rum delivers the dark, molasses-rich profile and distinctive complexity associated with Guyanese rum production. The result is an authentic taste of rum history—a spirit that honors traditional methods and the heritage of one of rum's most iconic brands while offering the depth and character that serious rum drinkers and tiki cocktail enthusiasts actively seek for their collections.
On the nose, Lemon Hart Original 1804 reveals rich aromas of dark molasses, brown sugar, and tropical fruit with notes of caramel, oak, warm spices, and subtle hints of licorice and tobacco. The palate delivers a bold, full-bodied experience with intense flavors of molasses, toffee, ripe banana, and dried fruit complemented by oak influence, baking spices, and that characteristic Demerara funk and depth that sets Guyanese rums apart. The finish is long and warming with lingering molasses, spice, and oak character. While this rum can certainly be enjoyed neat or over ice to appreciate its complexity, its robust profile makes it particularly valuable for mixing—it's a favorite among tiki cocktail aficionados who rely on Demerara rum to add backbone and depth to classics like Mai Tais, Zombies, and Navy Grogs. The bold character ensures it won't get lost in complex cocktails while still playing well with other ingredients. Whether you're a rum enthusiast exploring historic brands, building a proper tiki bar with the right mixing rums, or seeking authentic Demerara character for cocktails that demand it, Lemon Hart Original 1804 delivers time-honored quality and the bold, molasses-rich flavor that has made this name legendary for over two centuries.
