These are mostly small teacups, appropriate for gong fu cha style tea brewing. (Small teaware, many infusions.) Cups range between 45ml (approx 2 ounces) to 70ml in capacity. All cups are unglazed, except for the lip, which makes for a pleasant sipping experience.
Glazes appear differently under LED light compared to daylight - see images for reference.
Please DM us @softer.drink if you want to see a specific photo of a specific cup / can’t quite figure out what’s what. (Photos mostly for glaze reference in daylight - will upload more photos eventually showing the form, and appearance under LED lighting also)
Approx volumes for each cup. If multiple per glaze, please specify in order notes if you have a preference.
Gray-Green - 70ml
Gray-Blue - 70ml (1 available), 50ml (1 available) - they nest inside each other well if you want some 'related but not the same' teaware
Red - 60ml
Brown Sparkles - 60ml
Red + Copper - 50ml
Graphite - 65ml (1 available), 45ml (2 available)
About Laughin’ Gnome Pottery
Laughin’ Gnome Pottery makes functional pottery pieces out of unglazed, high-fired clay. Like unglazed iron-rich Chinese clay teaware, these pieces can theoretically enhance the tea (or any other beverage) you choose to drink from them! Bitter flavours tend to have softer edges, body tends to feel silky and smooth. It’s pretty unusual to find unglazed clay pieces intended for tea service in North America. Turns out the Gnome has been known to enjoy a cup of pu’er tea now and again ;)
We met Laughin’ Gnome while on a camping getaway on the Olympic Peninsula, just across the water from where we are.
