La Storia Petite Sirah 2022 is a bold, expressive, and fruit-forward New World red wine that imposes a dramatic and powerful presence in the glass. It pours an inky-dark, completely opaque purple colour, lifting with an immediate, refreshing bouquet of concentrated blueberries, crushed blackberries, and violets, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of cocoa, graphite, brown sugar, and a hint of vanilla from oak barrels. On the palate, this full-bodied red wine is remarkably smooth, dense, and rich, coating the mouth with pure, velvety intensities of spicy blue fruit, black pepper, and a lovely streak of balanced acidity. Matured carefully in new oak barrels to enhance its structural depth and savory complexity, its structural crunch is sustained by surprisingly soft, engagingly plush tannins that carry into a long, persistent, and beautifully measured finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with casual or premium red meat fare, including barbecued ribs, slow-roasted lamb chops, braised short ribs, grilled smoky brisket, gourmet beef burgers, and hard or aged cheeses like Gouda or Manchego.
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Intense aromas of crushed blueberry, clove and violets dominate the nose of this Petite Sirah. The fleshy but not overpowering palate brings more spicy blue fruits, black pepper and a lovely streak of acidity that buoys the entire affair. Drink with barbequed ribs or chops.
90 Points - James Suckling
Bold and robust aromas of bramble berries, blackberry compote and sweet spices. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins and balanced acidity, giving sweet-fruited flavors of dark cherries, mulberries and mocha. Lush and generous in an early-drinking style.
