This edition blends meaningful tradition with fine tequila craftsmanship: La Cofradía’s Ed. Catrina Reposado is artistic in presentation and approachable in profile — offering mellow oak-influenced sweetness built on crisp 100% Blue Weber agave. It’s a collectible piece with a smooth, refined feel.
Origins & Craftsmanship
From Jalisco, Mexico, the Tequila is distilled by the house of La Cofradía and forms part of their “Catrina” special-edition range, which honours the iconic Mexican Día de los Muertos figure. The edition is made from 100% Blue Weber agave, slow-roasted in traditional ovens, and twice-distilled in small-batch copper pot stills. The “Reposado” expression is rested for several months in oak barrels (American oak according to listings) until the spirit gains a subtle golden hue and wood-inflected character, while retaining agave clarity.
Critics Reviews
-
A specialty-tequila reviewer described the Catrina Reposado as “a gently oaked 100% agave reposado whose aroma opens with cooked agave and soft vanilla, followed on the palate by caramelised sugar, toasted oak and ripe dried fruit, finishing warm and smooth.”
-
Another tasting note observed: “The ceramic bottle’s craftsmanship draws attention — but the liquid inside holds its own: honeyed agave, light nut-meg spice and mellow wood influence give this reposado broad appeal for both sipping and premium cocktails.”
-
Industry commentary emphasises the appeal of combining artisan packaging (hand-painted ceramic bottle) with accessible price-point agave quality, calling it “value-forward and display-worthy”.
Tasting Profile
-
Nose: Light gold colour; aromas of sweet cooked agave, warm vanilla bean, toasted oak and gentle caramel.
-
Palate: Smooth and medium-bodied — cooked blue agave leads, moving into honey and brown-sugar sweetness, toasted oak, soft almond and subtle spicy wood notes.
-
Finish: Long and mellow; the sweetness fades gently leaving toasted oak, mild pepper-spice and a clean agave echo.
