Italy’s Piedmont region, in the northwest of the country, is famed for its noble red wines, particularly those made from the Nebbiolo grape. Colline Novaresi, a subregion in the northern part of Piedmont, offers a cooler climate and volcanic soils that lend unique elegance to its wines. La Capuccina is a family-run estate with deep roots in sustainable agriculture and minimal intervention winemaking, preserving the authenticity of the terroir. Their 'Opera 32' line celebrates limited productions with expressive profiles and strong regional character.
Wine Description
This 2018 Nebbiolo displays a luminous ruby hue with garnet highlights, typical of the varietal. Aromas open with violets, dried roses, and tart red cherries, followed by subtle notes of earth, spice, and leather. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins. Flavours of cranberry, wild strawberry, and orange peel lead to a savoury, mineral-inflected finish.
Accolades
Vinous – 91 points.
Food Pairing
Ideal with mushroom risotto, veal scaloppine, or aged cheeses such as Taleggio or Fontina. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character.
