Crafted in Jalisco, Mexico, for Costco Wholesale, Kirkland Signature Extra Añejo is a premium 100% Weber Blue Agave spirit offered at an accessible price point. Harvested from mature agave, the piñas are cooked in stainless steel autoclaves, crushed using roller mills, and double-distilled in stainless steel pot stills. The spirit undergoes an extended maturation process, aging for a minimum of 3 years in American oak barrels, with select batches finished in French oak barrels. This long aging period imparts a deep complexity characterized by rich dark chocolate, toasted oak, dried fruits, and warm baking spices while maintaining a smooth agave core.
Food Pairing: Prime ribeye steak, braised short ribs, dark chocolate soufflé, aged Gouda, toasted pecans, or churros with dulce de leche.
Tasting Notes: Deep mahogany amber with rich copper reflections, high viscosity, and slow-moving, heavy legs.
Nose: Decadent and complex, opening with roasted oak, dark caramel, and vanilla bean, backed by dried fig, toasted nuts, dark cocoa, and warm cinnamon spice.
Palate: Rich, full-bodied, and velvety on the palate, featuring sweet butterscotch, dark chocolate, and cooked agave upfront before unfolding into layers of toasted oak tannins, nutmeg, pipe tobacco, and subtle leather notes.
Finish: Long, warm, and luxurious with lingering notes of sweet vanilla, toasted oak spice, and a velvety agave warmth.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn or Riedel Tequila glass at room temperature, or over a single large ice sphere as a luxury sipping spirit.
