The Kilchoman distillery was founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills and is an independent, family-run operation. It was the first distillery built on Islay in over 124 years. The distillery operates as Islay’s only 'farm distillery,' which means it performs all parts of the whisky-making process—from growing barley at Rockside Farm to bottling—on the island itself.
Whisky Description
The whisky presents a full-bodied nose rich with butterscotch, vanilla bean, and toasted coconut, with a gentle layer of oak smoke. Smooth and structured, featuring sweet caramel, spiced apple, and vanilla fudge, balanced by a thread of subtle peat smoke, white pepper, and salty driftwood. It has a long, warming finish with notes of honeycomb, sea breeze, and sweet smoke wrapped in soft oak.
