15 STARS built an enviable reputation by blending premium, older whiskeys, but their newest commemorative release flips the script. This bottle celebrates America's 250th anniversary by resurrecting the original 1776 spelling of Virginia’s western frontier. This blend brings serious pedigree. By marrying two distinct Kentucky straight bourbons aged a minimum of six years, the blenders deliver a pour that drinks remarkably older than the label suggests. The result is pure alchemy.
Instead of relying on aggressive oak extraction to mask youthful heat, this expression leans heavily into nuanced fruit and rustic earthiness. Damp forest floor mingles with bright candied banana. The master blenders sidestepped the trap of over-oaking, opting instead for a balanced integration of seasoned wood spice and vibrant floral notes that linger on the tongue. It drinks beautifully neat every time.
You get an unapologetically classic profile without the typical allocated bourbon frenzy. At ninety proof, the alcohol acts as a gentle vehicle for flavor rather than a numbing solvent. This accessible proof point encourages slow sipping while you parse out subtle layers of golden raisin and tobacco leaf hiding in the background. Grab this limited release very fast.
