Introduction
J.P. Wiser's 27 Year Old Mizunara Oak is an ultra-premium, limited-edition Canadian whisky produced at the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Windsor, Ontario. This rare expression was developed by Master Blender Dr. Don Livermore as a pinnacle release within the brand's exploration of wood science. The whisky underwent a secondary maturation in rare Mizunara oak casks imported from Japan, blending nearly three decades of Canadian aging with the legendary 'temple incense' character of Japanese oak to create one of the most exclusive releases in the distillery's history.
Spirit Description
This whisky displays a brilliant deep copper colour with mahogany glints. The nose is incredibly complex and perfumed, offering the signature Mizunara aromas of sandalwood, agarwood, and dried flowers, followed by rich Canadian rye notes of toffee, dark chocolate, and black cherry. On the palate, the body is exceptionally oily and dense, revealing layers of honeyed malt, cloves, and apricot jam, underpinned by an exotic spice profile featuring black tea and incense. The finish is remarkably long and evolving, leaving a sophisticated trail of cedarwood, leather, and lingering cinnamon. It is bottled at a formidable cask strength of 62.1% ABV.
