Introduction
This red wine originates from France, specifically from the Beaujolais Villages appellation in the Beaujolais region. Founded in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, Maison Joseph Drouhin is an iconic family owned estate currently led by the fourth generation: Frédéric, Véronique, Philippe, and Laurent Drouhin. The winery is renowned for its commitment to 'terroir' expression and was a pioneer in organic and biodynamic viticulture, managing its estate vineyards under these principles since the late 1980s.
Wine Description
Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Villages displays a brilliant raspberry colour with a luminous hue. The nose is both refined and intense, offering a fragrant bouquet of violets, peonies, and red fruit syrup, accented by subtle earthy and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is fresh and silky with a medium body, featuring juicy flavours of strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry. It is characterized by its remarkable balance and a long, persistent finish that maintains a lively fruitiness. This 100% Gamay wine has an ABV of 12.5% to 12.6% and is produced using grapes from estate vineyards that have been certified organic since 2009. The optimal drinking window for this vibrant and approachable red is from now through 2030.
