This Chardonnay originates from Canada’s Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, specifically sourced from the Con Vida Vineyard on Skaha Bluff and, in some vintages, complemented by fruit from the Naramata Bench. JoieFarm, founded in 2004, is an acclaimed winery recognized for producing wines that embody the spirit of conviviality and terroir expression. Their philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention and a focus on capturing the freshness of the Okanagan.
Wine Description
The Joie Farm Chardonnay ‘En Famille’ is a refined expression of cool-climate Chardonnay. It pours a pale gold hue, offering aromas of baked pecans, lemon curd, apple, vanilla bean, and fresh white flowers, layered with sage, tarragon, and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, it is creamy yet balanced with lively acidity, showcasing orchard fruits, citrus, hazelnut, and subtle mineral notes of granite and wet stone. Full malolactic fermentation and lees aging provide depth, texture, and complexity, while oak influence adds finesse without overwhelming the wine.
Food Pairing
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, creamy risotto, or grilled lobster with herb butter. Its freshness and layered texture also complement dishes like seared scallops with citrus beurre blanc.
