La Petita 2022 by Joan Rubió is a white blend from Spain's Penedès region, featuring Xarel·lo, Sumoll Blanc, and Malvasía de Sitges grapes. Cultivated organically and biodynamically, the vineyards benefit from the Mediterranean climate and limestone-rich soils, which contribute to the wine's minerality and vibrancy. Joan Rubió, formerly the technical director at Recaredo, emphasizes minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the authentic expression of the terroir. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts, and the wine is aged in amphorae, enhancing its purity and complexity. The result is a wine that embodies the essence of Penedès' indigenous varieties and sustainable viticulture.
