This bourbon, finished in port barrels, is inspired by the 2016 expression, which enjoyed great success as a limited release. It is named after Captain Isaac Bowman, an officer in the American Revolutionary War, known for his adventurous spirit, much like his older brothers, Abraham and Joseph. This character is said to have influenced the whiskey itself.
For those hesitant about port-finished bourbons being overly sweet, this one maintains a balance, incorporating the boldness of port without becoming too sugary. According to the distillery, a portion of whiskey from each batch of Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon will be set aside for blending into the next batch to ensure consistency in flavor and color. It will be interesting to try future batches to see how the flavor may evolve over time.
