Holzer Original Barrel (Fernet, Aged Bitter) is an artisanal herbal liqueur crafted by third-generation Austrian distiller Raphael Holzer. Made using a traditional cold-maceration process with wild alpine botanicals—including arnica, lavender, orris root, and chamomile—harvested in Austria, this expression is rested in oak barrels to integrate its signature floral bitterness with subtle notes of vanilla, warm spice, and rounded wood character.
Food Pairing: Rich charcuterie, roasted duck breast, blue cheese, dark chocolate, or pecan pie.
Tasting Notes : Rich amber to warm copper in appearance with a smooth, velvety, and rounded mouthfeel.
Nose : Aromatic lavender, subtle chamomile flowers, roasted oak, toasted vanilla, and sweet herbal roots.
Palate : Complex and smooth with notes of dried arnica, soft wildflower honey, gentle oak spice, toasted wood, and earthy roots.
Finish : Long, warm, and lingering with an evolving, pleasant botanical bitterness and soft oak character.
Serve : Serve neat as a digestif, over a large ice cube, or as an elevated modifier in classic cocktail recipes.
