Highland Park 21 Year Old Whisky 2020 Release
Aged gracefully for over two decades on the remote Orkney Islands, this distinguished single malt is a testament to Highland Park’s mastery of cask maturation and balance. Bottled in 2020, this 21-year-old expression draws from just 55 hand-selected casks filled in November 1998, making it both rare and meticulously curated.
The whisky showcases the influence of three distinct cask types. First-fill European oak sherry-seasoned hogsheads, ex-bourbon casks, and refill casks. All delivering layers of complexity that mark the peak of maturity.
- Highland Park 21 Year Old Whisky 2020 Release opens with vivid notes of fresh ginger and sun-kissed oranges from the sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads.
- Creamy vanilla and a gentle drizzle of honey arrive from the ex-bourbon casks.
- A soft echo of toasted oak from the refill casks rounds out the experience with subtle smoky spice and lingering warmth.
- The result is a deeply harmonious and robust dram. Bottled at a strength of 46% ABV to maintain richness and structure.
This is a whisky best appreciated slowly and neat, allowing the complexity to unfold with every sip. Ideal alongside dishes such as spiced lamb shoulder, mature cheeses, or even a rich dark chocolate dessert.
